Grammy-winning rapper Ludacris is reportedly following Nicki Minaj‘s “Pinkprint” by landing a new television show.

According to reports, Luda has teamed up with CBS to executive produce an upcoming drama called “The Down Beat.”

The scribe, who last season saw medical drama LFE go to pilot, has sold a pair of dramas to the network — including a Ryan Seacrest and Chris “Ludacris” Bridges produced marching band entry. The Down Beat, from CBS Television Studios and Ryan Seacrest Productions, is described as an inspiring story of a former business mogul looking for personal retribution, who is determined to take down two warring gangs in the mean streets of Atlanta by offering possible teen recruits an unlikely refuge: a high school marching band. The news comes just weeks after Luda appeared in Fox’s “Empire” television show.

The show will be the first foray as an executive producer for Ludacris, who was born Chris Bridges. No word on whether the MC will star in the drama. The Atlanta rapper has been seen on the big screen in Crash, the Fast & Furious films and Hustle & Flow. He has also appeared in Fox’s hit TV show Empire. (Radio)

Young Money’s Nicki Minaj recently landed an executive producer role for an upcoming television show.

Nicki Minaj is set to executive produce and appear in a scripted comedy series for ABC Family based on the rap star’s life growing up in Queens, New York. The project, from Aaron Kaplan’s Kapital Entertainment, will film a pilot episode in Minaj’s hometown this winter, with the intention to continue to series. (Deadline)

An ABC executive provided some insight on the new partnership in late September.

“Nicki Minaj is a force to be reckoned with at everything she touches,” said ABC Family’s EVP Programming and Development Karey Burke. “Nicki is an international superstar, yet not everyone knows how inspiring and hilarious her true story is, and we can’t wait to share it with the world.” (Statement)
