“Love & Hip Hop” Cast Members Fired, Wale Lands NBA Gig, Drake Flaunts His New Raptors Suit?

Written By Cyrus Langhorne

Thriving Thursday. It's a day to thrive, so why not get things started with a couple of notable "Love & Hip Hop" cast members fired? Instead of firing, it looks like the Washington Wizards did some hiring after having Wale join the organization. Speaking of hip-hop artists and their NBA connections, is Drake embracing his Toronto Raptors with some new stitches? All this coming up in SOHH Whatcha Think.

1. You’re Fired!

It looks like VH1 is going to have some serious hiring to do after handing out pink slips to “Love & Hip Hop: Atlanta’s” Benzino and his fiancée Althea Eaton. TMZ is all over it:

Benzino and fiancee Althea Eaton think “Love & Hip Hop: Atlanta” should air on Animal Planet … because they think producers are making them scapegoats.

Production sources tell us the couple was given the boot Wednesday AM … with no explanation.

Benzino says it’s obvious he and Althea are being blamed for the fight between them and castmates Joseline Hernandez and Stevie J … a brawl that proved irresistible for other cast members. (TMZ)

Could this all be a set-up? Is this an opportunity for VH1 to gain some extra publicity? Is it really a wrap for Zino and Althea? #SOHHWhatchaThink?

2. And Now Introducing…

Is Wale getting ready to help take the Washington Wizards to the next level? The Wizards have announced Wale as the team’s creative liaison. Washington Post is on it:

The Wizards will be using Wale’s songs in team introductions and the rapper will collaborate on designs for merchandise and social media promotions, according to a press release. “As a D.C. native and lifelong Wizards fan, this is truly an exciting and organic relationship for me,” Wale said in the release. “We’ve got some exciting projects up our sleeve that will roll out throughout the season, so be on the lookout.” (Washington Post)

Should Wale lean on Drake for some advice? Is Wale’s influence going to take the Wizards to a whole new plateau? #SOHHWhatchaThink?

3. Rip-Rip-Raptors!

Who could forget about the loyalty Drake showed during the NBA play-offs last year with his Toronto Raptors? He made sure to jump on the Raptors train extra early and showed up to the team’s home game against the Atlanta Hawks with an intense fashion decision. Billboard is on it:

The official Drake fan Instagram account posted a photo of the rapper and Raptors general manager Masai Ujiri before the team’s game with the Atlanta Hawks, showing off the jacket. As the team’s global ambassador, Drake’s seems ready to make the Raptor’s cool however he can. Last season, he showed off another jacket with the inside lined by an old Vince Carter jersey. (Billboard)

Could the Raptors sneak up and surprise everyone in the NBA this season? Will Drake’s influence outshine Wale’s down in Washington, DC? What’s Drake going to do for the Raptors? #SOHHWhatchaThink?
