Weeks after the fatal shooting of New York rapper Chinx, record label eOne has announced plans to release a posthumous album called Welcome To JFK.

Based on a new media press release, the LP will arrive this August.

Chinx album Welcome To JFK will be in stores 8.14 Now listen to the first single “On Your Body” featuring Meet Sims. Born Lionel Pickens in Queens, New York, Chinx paved his musical path since an early age. Surrounded and influenced by some of the greats of our era, his sound was “I don’t want to fit in,” he said. “I want people to respect my music. I have the drive to be original and to stay true to who I am as a person and as an artist, and not create a gimmick with my artistry.” (eOne Press Release)

Last year, Chinx talked about the importance and value of naming his LP Welcome To JFK.

“My album will be titled Welcome To JFK,” he said. “Cause my part of Queens is right by the airport so whenever you coming to New York, you gotta come through where I’m from.” (XXL Mag)

Arrests went down at French Montana’s Chinx tribute music video last weekend.

Three men and two women — including the set security guard — were facing weapons and drug charges after plainclothes cops infiltrated the shoot behind a Fulton St. Bravo Supermarket in East New York at about 6:15 p.m. and spotted the illegal hardware, officials said. Family members and friends paid homage to Chinx at a funeral service in New York last Tuesday (May 26).
