“I’m Hooked” really represents me getting ready to be in the limelight again. I took time for myself to figure out what’s going on with me as an artist and what my expression is but in my heart, I’m 30 years old, even though I’ve had such big success in my life, people think I should be thankful for what I got and that’s about it.
No, I’m thankful but this is just the start for me. I’m going to do it my way this time. “I’m Hooked” is me throwing down the hammer on that a** and being like, “Look, I’m hooked on this sh*t. I’m definitely going to be back and be on top.” This video is me saying that to the world. It’s me saying I was gone but now I’m back and this is going to be the greatest it’s ever been.
In the beginning of the music video, I’m walking down this road and I’m looking at this big rock. It’s showing this journey that I’ve gone and am continuing to go, climbing these mountains.
Nobody really knows. Everyone thinks I’ve been spoiled because my grandfather is Berry Gordy. I’ve lived in my car for d*mn near a year, I’ve dealt drugs at different schools, I’ve hustled my whole life.
I’ve never really had it easy. I have a lovely family but me as a man, I’ve struggled and I’ve had to overcome a lot of sh*t. I grew up around gangs and I took on real life before LMFAO.
People really don’t know who I am. I’m a real n*gga. Straight up. I’m a fighter. Physically. I was like the security guard of LMFAO when sh*t went down.
In this video, what you’re seeing is all of the things I’ve overcome. You see me starting to walk up the hill. I’m coming back from where I’ve been. I’m coming back to Hollywood.
If you see all the places I go to, every place was somewhere me and Redfoo went to as LMFAO. I went to a place where we used to eat all the time. I walked past the Roxy. I walked down Hollywood Boulevard.
It’s like me coming back to the places that basically made me and my career and where we started our career. It really is so much about me coming back. I’m back.
