When asked who he is feeling the most out of Trina, Lil Kim and Nicki, Banks co-signed his fellow Queens, New York rapper.

“[Laughs] Sheesh. I would go with Nicki right now,” he said in an interview. “Yeah, I like her as an artist. We came up in the same era, we were around the same age so I’m pretty sure one of her influences was probably Lil Kim and nothing is really reminding of the impact Kim had, since Nicki came. To have a concert and have a hundred Nickies in the front row… not too many new artists come and have a following like that. So you definitely have to acknowledge that.” (VIBE)

Minaj recent said rap mogul Jay-Z has gave her his stamp of approval.

“I was like, ‘What?’ ” Minaj said about Jigga claiming she has “charm.” “Obviously, Jay-Z … Jay-Z is a person in hip-hop that you almost don’t think he exist until you meet him. It’s almost like he’s bigger than a person. He’s a mythical figure. That’s a great way to describe it. I was like, ‘Jay-Z knows me?’ I didn’t think he knew who I was, let alone recommend me for something. If he did know who I was, I didn’t know if he liked my style or approved. It was weird. It was like getting that stamp of approval from the most popular jock in high school and being a freshman in high school and thinking no one knows you exist.” (MTV)

Ruff Ryders’ Drag-On previously hit up SOHH to discuss the comparisons between Nicki and his long-time partner in rhymes, Eve.

“Yeah of course, Eve is always gonna be in it to win it, she’s working on her album right now too,” Drag told SOHH. “I heard it’s bananas too. Like, it’s crazy. She’s always in it to win it. But I like Nicki Minaj, I ain’t gonna front. I like her swag and what she’s got going on.” (SOHH)

Despite the male co-signs, Nicki has received mixed feedback from female artists.

“I don’t know what Nicki is, if Lil Wayne likes her, I like her,” Southern rapper Khia said in an interview. “I mean, she’s an actor, she majored in drama, right? I think she’s just an actor, I guess. She’s acting, like, she’s always in character. I don’t know if it’s really her. Everybody knows it’s me, it’s Khia. I don’t know if she’s Nick, I don’t know if she’s a Barbie. I tell everybody, we don’t have Barbies in the hood. Boos, there wasn’t no Barbies sitting on the stoop, love who you are. Hip-Hop is supposed to be real, hip-hop is supposed to be where the real people hang and I think it’s a lot of infiltrators coming in…” (“Street Disciplez Radio”)
