Despite the speculation, the “Punchline King” said he has been seasoned for the indie hustle.

“My last album was independent, so I kind of know how things change. My last album was like a sleeper and I feel it was underrated. People get so used to seeing you on one level that they don’t see the separation. A lot of people didn’t know my last album was independent. I had four records added to radio. So it’s like, how do you really judge? Fans get it more than they got it five years ago though. Being on a major, you’re on a time clock. When you’re on your own, you decide when you’re ready.” (XXL Mag)

The New York native also discussed if he ever planned on signing to another record company.

“Nope, to be honest. I wasn’t thinking that far into it. I wanted to gear up and be ready. I didn’t want to put myself back into the position that I was in. I wanted to have a whole body of work done. I’m still touring off of my first album, so I know how important it is to get it right. I feel like my first album is a classic and this time I want to do better all around. I’m going to show people.” (XXL Mag)

Lloyd Banks recently cited a lack of communication for putting distance between himself and Unit head 50 Cent.

“Me and 50 wasn’t talking for a while,” Banks said in an interview. “It was a lack of communication on both our parts. I don’t know what to chalk it up to. We been doing this for a long time. Over ten years. Went from being in a condo just planning over what we wanted to happen and to watch it play out…It wasn’t just me and 50. It was points me and Buck didn’t talk.” (“The Breakfast Club”)

Although the Unit had fallen apart in recent years, reunited member Young Buck recently promised his band of brothers were built to win.

“Don’t look for the downfall of G-Unit,” the rapper said. “Cause you’ll be looking for a long God damn time. You understand? But looking for the success of G-Unit you’ll get what you want to see real quick. But looking for the downfall homie you gon’ be stuck…Don’t pray on our downfall or look for it. Look for the success. Look for the good music. Look for the positive energy. And that’s what you gon’ get. Because even if you ain’t looking for it that’s what you gon’ get.” (This Is 50)

  1. Banks is a genius. Before his last album people thought he was done. Then he got into a situation where they fucked up that guy in Canada. Bad rep and shit. As soon when he dropped Beamer Benz & Bentley all the bullshit went away. Point I’m trying to make is don’t sleep on Banks. Dude got what it takes. He is very underrated, even Kanye said that it. He the realest rapper in G-Unit. Never catch this nigga on some emotional shit. Can’t say the same about Yayo, Banks and 50.

    • He’s the most emo of them all – locks himself in his house for months at a time – you are kind completely wrong about this. Beamer was 5+ years ago bruh – get a grip – people who cared about banks have moved on – got jobs – kids – etc..

    • The beauty of Banks is I don’t think he cares about the fame or sells. He cares about the art and getting respect. He could of sold out long ago because he can make records. He wants to cater to his diehard fans tho and nobody can hate that.

  3. Banks is dope – but he’s also lazy, and has zero commercial appeal or charisma outside of being a rappers rapper – no one would give him an advance, cause there’s no way to make their money back – let alone a profit.
