Grammy-winning rapper Lil Wayne has reportedly responded to buzz estranged mentor Birdman sparked after guaranteeing a delayed Tha Carter V album will come out.
According to weekend reports, Weezy F. Baby wants the Cash Money boss to pay up if there’s any chance of C5 dropping.
We’re told Wayne heard Birdman saying he’s putting the beef behind him, but believes the Cash Money honcho’s just trying to “look like the nice guy.” Weezy’s yet to hear a peep about settling his $51 million lawsuit, and until he does … nothing changes. As we first reported, Wayne’s holding the master recording. All hope isn’t dead. Our Cash Money sources say — as recently as last week — Birdman met with Universal Music Group trying to hammer out a payment that will make Wayne happy. (TMZ)
Recently, Young Money president Mack Maine updated fans on a slew of upcoming Wayne albums including Tha Carter V.
“We wanna get that Carter V out,” Mack began to tell of his company’s plans. “Wayne also has a dope project called Velvet. We want to get that out. … We also have L.A.T. which is Wayne, Gutta and HoodyBaby. They going bananas. Demeo dropping his mixtape top of the year, Kingpin… We got some sh*t in the chamber for y’all man. We gonna be all over your radio, all over your TV screen. If you got any problems with us, you not gonna be able to avoid us.” (REVOLT TV)
A few days ago, Birdman revealed the fate of Wayne’s delayed project.
“Tha Carter V’s coming out. It’s definitely coming out. The situation with me and my son, I’m going to put it all that behind us and just let it move forward. Wayne is one of the best artists ever to do the game, and I want to see him finish [and] continue to do what he been doing, and I’m going to support whatever he’s doing, but you definitely going to get that C5.” (Beats 1)
Earlier this week, Wayne hinted at multiple releases likely coming out in 2017.
