Lil Wayne's ex-wife, Toya Carter, recently spoke on her relationship with the Grammy-winning rapper and how he has placed a large emphasis on being a father to his kids as of late.
Admitting she does not spend ample amounts of time around Weezy, Toya did say the rapper is living up to his role as a father.
“I’m not around him like that so I don’t really know, but when I do see him he’s cool. He seems like he’s got his business mind on straight. He’s been with his kids a lot lately. And that’s all that matters, to me, is his relationship with his kids, his daughter. The rest is history.” (VIBE)
Last month, Wayne said he would retire at 35 so he could spend more time with his kids.
“I would say me, I’ll be the first to retire,” Wayne told radio hostAngie Martinez when asked who would be the first to retire in Young Money. “I’m gone at like 35. I promise, I’m retiring early. Nah, I’m serious… I have four kids and I would feel selfish not to at that age. At 35, I would feel selfish still going to the studio when it’s such a vital point in their lives, not to be there. That would be very selfish of me. This is a solid plan and I stick with my plans. I’m gonna be a dad, a full-time dad.” (Hot 97)
Toya and Wayne’s daughter, Reginae, recently tweeted photos of an outing she had with the rapper.
Say what you want about Lil Wayne, but don’t question his love for his kids. The family guy enjoyed the weekend with his 12-year-old daughter Reginae and son Dwayne Carter III, hamming it up for the camera in a photo booth. “Like father, like son, like daughter! Meet the carters!” tweeted Reginae after spending the day with her father. (Rap-Up)
One of Wayne’s baby mothers, Lauren London, talked about sharing a child with the rapper last spring.
“Motherhood has changed me alot,” she revealed in an interview. “I’ve definitely calmed down. I had a temper in the past and I don’t as much anymore. My son definitely puts stuff in perspective. The things I thought were really really important, aren’t. I don’t look at the surface as much anymore. A lot of things I was doing before were really selfish and now it’s not about me. It’s about him. I’m blessed that I am not parenting him alone. I have help and I get to do what I love. Wayne is a great dad. He’s a great father. I have no complaints!” (Necole Bitchie)
