Grammy-winning rapper Lil Wayne‘s camp has reportedly stepped up to deny reports which claim a pilot turned around a private flight over drug usage.

According to reports, Wayne’s crew said mechanical issues, not marijuana smoke, caused the jet issue.

10:00 AM PT — Wayne’s camp denies he was smoking in flight. They say they were told the plane turned around for mechanical problem. (TMZ)

The bizarre story landed across the Internet Tuesday (July 21) morning.

We’re told Wayne told the pilot before takeoff at a Ft. Lauderdale airport, he and his entourage wanted to smoke during the flight. The pilot could not have been clearer … absolutely not. But shortly after takeoff, Wayne and his posse lit up, and the pilot was in no mood to negotiate. The captain turned the plane around 17 minutes after takeoff and landed it where it came from. (TMZ)

Wayne recently teamed up with music mogul Jay Z‘s Tidal streaming service for his upcoming Lil Weezyana Fest concert.

“I’ve connected with my fans in such a cool way with the help of Tidal, and with this Tidal X I can’t wait to bring them another experience,” states Lil Wayne. “Lil Weezyana Fest is so special to me and I’m excited to share it with fans in New Orleans and online.” (AHH)

Hot Boys’ Turk spoke to SOHH last week about how the reunion concert came together.

“That’s official. It’s time for it. We’ve all been working and it was in the works, it was just about finding the time that we were going to do it. [Lil] Wayne decided to do it for the anniversary of Hurricane Katrina and gave everybody a call – me, Juvenile, Mannie Fresh, B.G., he’s locked up, but of course we were ready to do it because it was time for it.” (SOHH)
