Grammy-winning rapper Lil Wayne, Soulja Boy and Justin Bieber‘s past drug of choice has reportedly been removed from the market.

Details of the huge decision to yank Promethazine Codeine bottles from retail outlets have surfaced online.

A rep for Actavis — famous for the highly-refined cough syrup — tells TMZ, “Given [recent media attention], Actavis has made the bold and unprecedented decision to cease all production and sales of its Promethazine Codeine product.” The Actavis rep adds, “This attention has glamorized the unlawful and dangerous use of the product, which is contrary to its approved indication.” (TMZ)

As a result of the removal, the cough syrup’s value has sky-rocketed.

Before Actavis pulled the plug on the product, the street value of a pint bottle hovered around $800 — but sources familiar with the market tell TMZ, rappers are now offering insane sums to buy up whatever’s left. We’re told one prominent rapper has already offered his dealer up to $100,000 to get whatever he can. (TMZ)

Familiar with the situation, Soulja Boy boasted about his own cough syrup stash via Instagram this week.

“Soulja got the juice. They say the streets dry I say you gotta be kiddin me. I serve everybody,” SB wrote April 21. (Soulja Boy’s Instagram)

Last year, pop star Justin Bieber lashed out over alleged syrup-drinking photos.

Justin Bieber is shooting down rumors that he engaged in risky behavior, allegedlydrinking “sizzurp” while partying with friends Lil Twist and Lil Za. TMZ first reported that they’ve seen photos of the 18-year-old pop star with a bottle of codeine cough syrup, known as “sizzurp,” nearby. Justin tweeted on Feb. 2, “Some of these rumors about me are getting a little out of control now. Don’t believe the [bulls**t]. Gonna focus on the positive. I understand that rumors come with the territory, but I’m gonna stay me. Focus on the music. U wanna know what im about…it is all right there.” (Hollywood Life)
