Grammy-winning rapper Lil Wayne has reportedly taken legal action against Universal Music Group over being owed millions.

According to reports, Wayne’s legal team filed a federal lawsuit in California Monday (March 28).

“With Universal’s knowledge of Lil Wayne’s rights to partial ownership and profits from those artists, Universal and Cash Money entered into a series of agreements which, among other things, diverted Lil Wayne’s substantial profits to repay debts of Cash Money,” states the complaint. “As a result, 100% of the profits that should have been paid to Lil Wayne as a result of his ownership of Drake, Nicki Minaj and Tyga records have been seized by Universal to repay debts that were neither incurred by nor were the obligations of Lil Wayne.” (The Hollywood Reporter)

Recently, former YMCMB producer Mannie Fresh suggested Wayne and Cash Money boss Birdman still had issues despite collaborating on their recent “Hate” single.

“By sheer coincidence, I wind up bumping into Baby and I was like, “Dude, I would love if you introed this song.” He was like, “Send it to me, it’s done.” I can see how paperwork and foolishness can destroy something. Everything is not resolved with him and Wayne, but I overcame it by saying to them, “We can resolve all that behind the curtain, but for now, let’s make music for the people.” When it all started coming together, the brotherly love came out. We did the song, then, “I wish you the best, we should do it more often.” (Genius)

The trio’s newest collabo landed online back in late February.

The Cash Money/Young Money honchos both dropped verses for Mannie Fresh’s new cut, “Hate” — which also features Juvenile. We’re told they were NOT in studio together for the recording — Wayne laid down his part more than a year ago, and Birdman did his a few days ago — still, it’s another sign they could be closer to ending their feud. They’ve partied a few times since New Year’s, and Birdman publicly vowed he’d die for Weezy. But as we’ve reported … Wayne is standing firm on his financial demands. (TMZ)

Recent reports claimed Young Money’s Nicki Minaj and Drake were relieved Birdman made a truce with Lil Wayne a few weeks ago.

Sources close to Young Money tell us the rappers were forced to take sides ever since Lil Wayne sued Birdman for withholding millions for his long-delayed album, “Tha Carter V.” Nicki and Drake backed Lil Wayne for obvious reasons, but we’re told they still had love for Birdman since he paved the way. We’re told Nicki and Drake felt boxed in, scared to death they’d be caught talking to Birdman. (TMZ)
