Young Money‘s Lil Twist is going to have a lot of time to himself once 2017 rolls around. New reports claim the rapper is set to spend a year behind bars over an assault case.

According to reports, the rapper received his sentence Wednesday (November 30) for allegedly beating up and robbing former TV star Chris Massey and his brother Kyle Massey.

Twist pled no contest to 6 charges, and got a year in L.A. County lockup.
We broke the story … Twist allegedly pummeled Chris and stole his Rolex. He turned himself in this past September after bailing on a court appearance. He could have gotten nearly 10 years, but dodged that with a plea deal. He doesn’t have to turn himself in until February 3. One twist — Twist could be out as early as August for good behavior. Back in November 2014, instead of name-dropping Twist, the Massey brothers brushed off the reported fight rumors.

We broke the story … Chris claims he got robbed and beaten up by someone with brass knuckles at Kyle’s home last week — and Twist is now a felony robbery and battery suspect. We got the Massey bros at LAX Wednesday and asked about the incident … which landed Chris in the hospital. For some reason they’re going out of their way to go soft on Twist. “I went to Dave & Buster’s,” Kyle said. “We went to Disney Land,” Chris added. (TMZ)

The Massey family stepped up to speak out with a statement after the news broke out.

“We want everyone to know that Christopher is fine and he was defending himself after Twist and four unknown suspects broke into Kyle & Christopher’s penthouse and robbed and assaulted him. Christopher is doing well and did get medical attention as reported, but has no physical concerns especially with the severity of the altercation. The police are still looking for the four accomplices. We plan to legally pursue this to the full extent of the law. Finally, we would like to thank the police who did an amazing job responding to the incident.” (Statement)
