Writing on thier blog, the duo talked about their week in South Beach and working alongside Carter IV contributor T-Pain.

“Its been one h*ll of a week …we spent the week recording and working in miami at the hit factory studios..lots of great work and things happened ..we ran into frankie j and slim from 112 the first nite and were asked to write a song for enrique iglesias which came out amazing then the next few days we ran into tpain and played him some beats and our new album and he was really digging it he told us we had hits which is big comin from him and then told us he wants to be a part of it so he is gonna do a hook for us.. The icing on the cake besides the car show outside of the studio with birdman and waynes bugatti and timbalands maybach was the hook tpain did over one of our beats for lil wayne’s carter 4…and the last nite we got to do some work with the latino legend tego calderon for his album ..here is some pics of the week ..we will keep everyone updated as much as we can” (G4 Muzik)

Producer T-Minus recently revealed how close Wayne’s album was to completion.

“Me and Drake had this record that we were going to put on [his sophomore album] Take Care, but [producer] 40 put this crazy mix on it and just made the beat bang–and after Wayne heard the mix that 40 did he was just like, ‘Wow, I’ve got to use this for my album.’ So yeah, I’m on the Tha Carter IV. The record is called ‘Maybe She Will.’ Things could change, but so far, it’s Wayne, and they got a verse from [Rick] Ross, and they got Drake on the hook. I never even heard Wayne’s verse. I briefly met Wayne a few weeks ago, when I was in New York, and it was really short, like a few seconds meeting him. It was a session that we were having for Wayne and Drake. Boi-1da was there, too. But Wayne’s project, they’re trying to wrap it up really soon. He’s got a bunch of songs ready for the album. He’s just got to get a few more done, and then they’re going to push it out.” (Complex)

Producer Boi-1da revealed that Wayne traveled to New York City to record Carter IV music in December.

“We were actually just up in New York working, Lil Wayne was in there, too. I gave him stuff for Tha Carter IV. Man, 2011 is going to be a good year for music. Drake’s in tip top shape and what’s amazed me is that lyrically he’s gotten better. He was already an outstanding lyricist but now I’m just in anticipation of what people are going to think when they hear his new music…I know a lot of people had criticized him for singing, but I think he’s just coming back to show people why they fell in love with him, like ‘did you forget about me?.’ And it’s really coming out in his raps. It’s something I can’t even really explain it.” (VIBE)

Prior to getting back on good terms with Wayne, Play-N-Skillz discussed not receiving full payment on their Carter III contributions.

“It’s not officially settled, but I’m going to say we took massive steps forward to get everything resolved,” they revealed in an interview. “There was never really a lawsuit, I don’t know where that one really [went] left field. We were never officially suing Lil Wayne and Young Money and Cash Money, it was just we were at a producer conference and we were giving advice to young producers and I’ma say it again. Sometimes, you gotta just jump out into the water without a life vest and just go and do what you gotta do to survive. And that’s what we did, we had the opportunity to be on an album like Carter 3, we’ll arrange it later on, we gonna get it fixed. We handle all the paper work, that’s not the case like we didn’t handle our business, it’s just the checks haven’t been cut. Not just for Play-N-Skillz, but d*mn near every producer on that album has not been paid, you know what I’m saying? It’s just a bunch of sample bullsh*t and everything else that’s going on, so shout-out to Wayne, Young Money, Cash Money, it’s all good daddy, let’s do another one.” (Real Talk NY)

A release date for Tha Carter IV has not yet been revealed.
