Grammy-winning rapper Lil Wayne has addressed his long-awaited new Free Weezy Album release and revealed how easy it was for him to craft.

Although humble by the fans appreciation, Wayne said he easily put together the new effort.

“For me personally, it’s just a testament of my will,” Wayne said referring to his Tidal exclusive. “It shows me that no matter what, I’m still able to do what I do to the best of my abilities. … I ain’t going to lie, I do this with my eyes closed. If I really did try to make, if I really did put the effort that people thought – I’m just very humble – but honest to God, I do it with my eyes closed. I do it with a phone in one hand and a skateboard in the other. I ain’t going to lie, I do it with my eyes closed, [radio host Wild] Wayne. If I was to really have something to go in there and really approach it the way everybody think I’m doing, it’d be dangerous. [When’s the dangerous album coming?] That’s for when everything get right.” (“Wild Wayne”)

After months of anticipation, Wayne’s long-awaited 15-track project arrived on Tidal on Independence Day.

The 15-track FWA features appearances by Young Jeezy (“White Girl”), Wiz Khalifa (“Feeling Right”), Young Money associate Cory Gunz, Jim “CAPO” Jones and Black Uhuru’s Junior Reid (“Murda”), singer/songwriter Jake Troth (“My Heart Races On”), “B*tch Better Have My Money” writer Bibi Bourelly (“Without You”) and others. “I honestly gotta say that this #FWA album is my best work yet! I won’t let u down as a fan,” Weezy tweeted in April. “Dis sh!t is a beast! Ok let me get bak 2da booth.” (Rolling Stone)

Footage of Wayne breaking the news of his project’s Fourth of July release date surfaced a few weeks ago.

“My name is Tunechi – I got a new album coming out, it’s called F.W.A., it’ll be out Fourth of July. Make some motherf*cking noise.” (YouTube)

Back in March, Wayne had “Free Weezy Album” shirts passed out to fans at a concert.

Last night during Miami Music Week, Lil Wayne’s team handed out T-shirts for his upcoming Free Weezy Album. The black and white “FWA” shirts were designed by Weezy’s clothing line Trukfit in collaboration with Red Bull Guest House where Wayne performed. The rapper announced last month that he would be releasing the new tracks for free very soon. (Complex)

  1. And that’s the problem..Artist don’t put EFFORT in their music……That why this Album is decent at best…but the intro and 2nd song are crazy.

    • True but I think Wayne’s case is different. Wayne been in the studio since he was a kid, when you do it for that long i’m sure its effortless now as a consumer i’m not to concerned with how much effort is going to making a song, I just want to hear a good song whether it took 5 mins or 2 hours to make i’m not not concerned with that. Theirs a lot of wordplay and changing of the vocal tone on the album which I like.Add the fact that this after a full album worth of material that hasn’t come out yet. These newer rapper’s though is a different story.

  2. He’s garbage now and there’s no heart in his music. He’s like eminem (mind you eminem is a better overall artist period hate it or love it) All he talks about is eating pussy, skateboarding, money and cars. He should just retire for a while A LOOOOONG WHILE then come back. He hasn’t been the same since No ceilings and any real hip hop fan (not you skinny tight jeans who love young thug, migos, tyga hoes) know that he’s lost the love for hip hop.

  3. That’s the same way Pac was. Walk in, play the beat two or three times, lay the vocals, say “nice working with you” and walk out in 20 minutes.

On the flip side why’d it take so long to drop?

  4. isn’t this like a slap in the face to his fans in a way?, you don’t really put effort in?, why in the hell would I actually purchase the album

  5. And I’m the same dude that’s gonna go out and purchase tha Carter 5 the day it comes out just hoping I get that old wayne back. Something close to Carter 2 or no ceilings. And that Pac comment? Wayne might do the same and just drop a track real quick but Pac was the realest and had that passion an dedication on every track. Wayne is one of the greatest he’s up there but dude is like tiger woods right now which is in a slump.

  6. That’s whats wrong with hip hop: Lazy efforts. No thoughts on the lyrics, beats or the concepts.
