Lil Uzi Vert, whose unique image has always captivated fans, surprises them by sharing a more personal and vulnerable side. The rapper’s upcoming album, The Pink Tape, has become highly anticipated among their fan base.

The “Just Wanna Rock” artist discloses that they embarked on their sobriety journey while working on this musical project. They credit Roc Nation CEO Desiree Perez’s support and assistance in sending them to rehab for seven months. 

Uzi’s public acknowledgment of their rehab experience demonstrates transparency rarely seen in the entertainment industry.

Following the transparency of Lil Uzi Vert, they silently took to their personal Instagram account, changing their pronouns to They/Them. However, multiple mixed reactions revolved around Uzi’s choice. 

Since then, Uzi has not been vocal about their gender identity, but they are still being unapologetically them. 

Mental health is a prevalent but often stigmatized issue within the Black community, including hip-hop. However, many artists are now sharing their struggles to encourage a more open and understanding dialogue. 

The hip-hop community, long associated with bravado and strength, is gradually becoming a safe space for conversations about mental health. According to Mental Health America, the genre is becoming an inviting door to a safe house for discussing mental health issues.
