Chicago rapper Lil Durk recently shared his thoughts on the slaying of New York hip-hop artist Chinx and reflected on how violence exists outside of Chi-Town.

In Durk’s opinion, publicized deaths like Chinx’s brings him back down to reality.

“It’s just scary. At the same time you could be gone, I could be with you and be gone tomorrow,” Durk said in an interview. “I just gotta learn off they mistakes and as well as mines. So what happened with Chinx all the way in New York, I’m like, ‘Yeah. It’s real.’ It could happen anywhere, so what I’m saying is it really affected me. But I gotta keep my head up and keep going.” (Mass Appeal)

A posthumous Chinx album is expected to come out this summer.
