When people are out and transparent, I really enjoy working with those people. That’s just my personal flavor.
It’s no shade to anyone who talks about cars, jewels, money and drugs, but when artists can take a minute to venture off and start discussing their own personal lives, and experiences, I love that stuff.
You know, I think when people do that, it makes for good conversation, that makes for good music. I think Kanye does that, I think Drake does that, J. Cole, Kendrick, Hopsin, they all do that.
Those are the guys, who I think we can actually get on a song and say, ‘Let’s just talk about how we disagree with something, or let’s talk about how we feel about the women in our lives, or our most depressed day, or the most embarrassing time of our life,’ and they have no problem doing that and that’s what I appreciate.
I don’t know if I can put a ranking on it. But what’s weird is that I would love to get in the studio with Kid Cudi. He has a lot of interesting perspectives on things and he’s really really open about stuff. I would love to get in the studio with Cudi. -as told to SOHH writer Nikita Rathod
