Former boxing champion Laila Ali has weighed in with her thoughts on female UFC fighter Ronda Rousey‘s shocking defeat this past weekend.

In Ali’s opinion, winning fighter Holly Holm did not surprise her by ending Rousey’s undefeated streak.

“She didn’t shock me,” Ali said referring to Holly Holm defeating Rousey. “I’m familiar with Holly Holm. She’s a talented boxer, she’s a world champion – I’m excited for her and hopefully she’ll get the exposure she needs to take her career to the next level – it’s obvious who the better fighter was. … We have to under that in order to be the best in the world, you definitely don’t ever get beat up like that in your prime, period.” (TMZ Sports)

Music stars Lady Gaga and 50 Cent poked fun at Rousey’s loss on social media this past weekend.

Rousey fell from grace after a second round knockout from Holm Saturday (November 14) night.

The 28-year-old MMA fighter was defeated barely under one minute into the second round during her UFC 193 fight with her opponent on Saturday. Holm, 34, delivered a swift kick to Rousey’s head and down she went. Her loss is being touted the biggest UFC upset in history. (E! Online)

Last year, Rousey responded to a diss lyric rapper Eminem shot at her on his “Shady XV” song.

“Yes, yes, I’m very aware,” Ronda responded when asked if she knew about Em’s diss. “He’s a great artist and art isn’t meant to be nice. It’s meant to make you feel something. I don’t know and I don’t really care. [Is is insulting?] I don’t know. I like being called a slaughterhouse in a blouse. I think it’s cool and I might not be perfect but parts of me are pretty awesome and I think if Eminem took the a** Pepsi challenge, he would totally pick me as his favorite.” (“Jimmy Kimmel Live!”)

  1. still a great fighter…every one has a person that can beat them …it happen to tyson…it happen to lewis…chuck liddel randy couture brock…andersen…fighters knock people out and get knocked…im not going to rip her for personality because a soft well mannered humble fighter would be boring…real control of a brand or market comes when you haters invest more than your supporters….

    • The key words were “don’t ever get beat up like that in your prime”. I hope you are not silly enough to compare Rousey to Ali.

  3. I thought hiphop liked rousey ?,,guess not,,,no one cared about female ufc before her,,,and that broad was “drago” from rocky three ,,,a machine for real,,and rousey was way overconfident ,,and a lil overmatched,, she was winded by the second round from all those 30second wins ,,,I don’t think she can win a rematch cuz she too small ,,,,but not shaking hands&getting knocked out will get u more haters
