Florida rapper Kodak Black is so close to freedom he can almost taste it. The Southern hip-hop star has confirmed buzz about landing an earlier than expected jail release.

Kodak went to Instagram Monday (July 16) to urge supporters to reach out to him one last time before coming home for good.

Earlier in the day, a report surfaced about Kodak landing an early release for time already served in a probation violation case.

According to court documents obtained by The Blast, the judge granted a motion filed by Kodak’s legal team which will give him an additional 30 days of time served, bringing the grand total to 120. Kodak was originally expected to be released around October, with good behavior, but with the updated court order the Broward County Sheriff’s Office now lists his expected release date as August 18. Back in May, Black confirmed reports about having his name legally changed.

A few weeks ago, reports went viral about Black getting approval to change his real name.

TMZ has learned the currently jailed rapper requested, and was granted, the name change by a Florida judge. Bill’s attorney, Bradford Cohen tells us his client wanted a “fresh start” in the middle of everything going on with him now. Fun fact: His real name was Dieuson Octave. We’re told he’ll still go by Kodak, professionally, when he gets out of jail … possibly as early as October. As we’ve reported, he’s doing time in a Florida jail for 2 probation violations. (TMZ)
