G.O.O.D. Music's Big Sean has stepped up to clear the air on a rumor about head boss Kanye West's girlfriend Kim Kardashian possibly joining their star-studded roster.
Along with denying the gossip, Sean also shot down claims of helping ghostwrite for Kim K.
“How’d you know, man,” Sean joking said to radio host Charlamagne Tha God when asked if he’s ghostwriting for Kim in light of her joining G.O.O.D. Music soon. “[I ghostwrote] the whole project. H*ll yeah, getting paid five mil a song. [laughs] Nah, man, I don’t know nothing about no ghostwriting for Kim. [You heard that?] For real? He probably heard that from [blogger] Big Ghostface. [laughs]” (“The Breakfast Club”)
This week, reports popped up suggesting Kardashian could be having a negative impact on Yeezy’s music career.
Sources tell the paper it’s the rapper’s relationship with Kardashian that has “tainted” his image, claiming that too many appearances on “Keeping Up with the Kardashians” and constant coverage in the tabloids and gossip blogs are devaluing his brand. “His personal life is overpowering his music. Every time he plays, people are wondering if Kim is going to be there. It’s not a good thing for him, especially if he wants to be taken seriously,” an industry source told the NYDN, adding that West’s association with the reality star is also affecting his income. Despite the reports, Sean recently talked about how happy the reality television star makes Ye.
“Yeah, that’s the homie right there,” Sean said to DJ Whoo Kid, referring to Kim. “She’s a cool person all around. I think her and Ye, they really make each other happy. So it’s tight. I’ve never seen him so happy. I can’t even remember the last time I’ve seen him so happy. It’s tight. Yeah, she’s out here doing her thing. … And it don’t get much better than that. She’s doing her thing.” (Avenue A Soundcheck)
Last spring, the Detroit rapper spoke up for Kim and her family’s off-camera image.
“I was trying to see if there were any more of them,” Sean jokingly said when asked if he is romantically linked to any Kardashian family member. “All of them are nice, too. None of them are a**holes. None of them have egos. Everybody cool, man. It’s just like, I think they’re people who really took advantage of their situation, of their popularity and made it into an empire. They’re rich, they’re role models, they do positive things, they’re living their life. You gotta give big ups to them for that. Straight up.” (Hot 97)
