Writing on his blog, Cudi explained why he changed the name from Cudder & The Revolution of Evolution .

“WHY? i started making this project like a collab album, filled with fun and upbeat records that for the most part left you with jack sh*t when you were finished listening. i took a step back, went on tour, and realized im where im at because of the type of songs i write. every time i read a comment from someone saying ive touched their lives in some way is what made me want to stop f*cking around and continue pouring my life into my music. MOTM2 is dark by nature and instead of bringing you into my dreams like my first album, im bringing you into my reality. good and bad. it will explain more of who iam aswell as pushing the envelope musically. this project will focus on many dark, fun, and ignorant moments in my life since ive been kid cudi in a exciting and cinematic nature continuing the MOTM theme. this is my darkest work so far with a hint of fun and grooviness for those who like the classic chill cudi sound but elevated to another level. the things i cant speak will be the things i write. before anything else, you’d come to the conclusion i need a shrink, a stronger drug or a mentor. not a hug. a lot of you have read the news and think they know cudi, got some slick sh*t to say amongst your peers or just flat out hate me but you havnt the slightest clue of who iam. i will tell the story of Mr. Rager….” (Kid Cudi’s Blog)

Last January, Cudi said his album had been changed from its original title, Cudder.

“I changed the name of my album,” Cudi recently told fans in a video recorded during a Milwaukee, Wisconsin concert. “And I haven’t told anybody else its title yet, it’s called Cudder & The Revolution of Evolution. It sounds really dope, it sounds like [a really big thing.]” (YouTube)

Cudi previously revealed his aim to release another album just months after his debut, Man on the Moon.

Cudder, I already got five tracks locked in,” Cudi revealed in an interview. “We got Snoop, we got Pharrell. I just was in the studio with him. We got Jim Jonsin. I did a record with him. I’m gonna get back in the studio with him. Trying to get the right amount of hit records on this. It’s gonna be the complete opposite of what Man on the Moon was. Man on the Moon was so serious. This one is gonna be more playful and fun. It’s about having a good time. People reaching out to me wanting to collab is so bugged out. I remember when nobody wanted to do any song with me, let alone listen to my sh*t.” (MTV)

Featured on Jay-Z‘s Blueprint III album, Cudi previously hit up SOHH to discuss future collaborations with the rapper.

“Yeah man, it’s really something that I plan on doing, working with Jay,” Cudi explained. “Just getting in the studio and creating something. When I did the hook which went on Blueprint 3, Jay wasn’t around. But it’s really something that I’m flattered about, being in the situation, like I said, I just bugged the f*ck out but at the same time, we gonna move forward and try make some more original sh*t. I’ve yet to have this conversation with Jay but I hope we can come together for some more records.” (SOHH)
