Southern rapper Kevin Gates has some loyal fans sticking to his side despite kicking a female fan during a concert last month.
Prior to taking the stage at a Tampa Bay, Florida show last night (September 6), attendees came together and spoke up for Gates.
“I’m not saying he was right in retaliating the way he did but at the same time, how many times can you keep asking someone to stop touching you before you defend yourself,” said Ryan Sayers. “I feel like she was disrespecting him because he asked her multiple times to stop and she didn’t.” said Danielle Vitale. Gates addressed his headline-generating situation on a song called “#TheTruth” last week.

The 18-year-old fan Miranda Dixon talked about the attack’s aftermath a few days ago.
“It still hurts so much, that is why I try not to talk too much, or even walk around,” Dixon said. “I just cannot still believe this happened to me,” said the teenager. (ABC Action News)
Last week, Gates received a battery charge for the attack.
Lakeland Police Department has charged the Louisiana-based Gates, also known as Kevin Jerome Gilyard, with battery, according to a complaint affidavit filed Tuesday afternoon. LPD reported that Dixon intends to press charges against Gates. (10 News)
