Careful with his words, K. Dot said fans could expect some connections to his highly-acclaimed 2012 studio release.

“There was a lot left out of good kid—it could have been a 30-track album. There are a few new [songs] that can tie in with what I was talking about.” (Rolling Stone)

Recently, TDE’s SZA teased Lamar fans about the LP’s overall sound.

“It sounds amazing. That’s all I’m gonna say. It really is amazing. It’s incredible. It’s next level. It’s next level for sure. He was storytelling before, but now it’s like on a grander scale. It’s vivid as f*ck. It’s beautiful. It’s so dope.” (Complex)

Comparing his iconic 1994 Illmatic album to K. Dot’s 2012 good kid, m.A.A.d city release, rap veteran Nas recently said he believes the West Coast rapper was prepared to take on critics.

“It’s something I thought about with Kendrick because his first album was received so well and already in his career, outside of his album, he shook up the rap game. So he’s just set up for his second offering. The [anticipation] is through the roof. It’s such a great place to be for someone who’s a writer, especially in a business today where it’s about singles and records that just go off in the club. It’s more artists coming out just slinging singles than banging albums. He’s an album guy. Those guys, it’s a different league. It’s an exciting moment for us.” (Complex)

Instead of bottling his concerns, K. Dot recently said he was excited about piecing together his next LP.

“It’s not really pressure,” Kendrick said in an interview. “I just keep the same instinct, doing what I feel, that makes me feel good at the moment. It’s really more excitement to get back in the studio and really do what I do. Nah, I don’t really feel pressure. … I’ll probably know exactly what [the title] is when I’m done with the music.” (93.7 The Beat)
