Kendrick Lamar has returned and fans are blown away by his new video “The Heart Part 5”. The video is being called a “masterpiece.”
It’s official: King Kendrick has returned. The Compton rapper recently released “The Heart Part 5,” arriving less than a week before the release of Lamar’s long-awaited new album, Mr Morale & the Big Steppers, due this Friday. The new track samples Marvin Gaye’s classic 1976 song “I Want You,” and although the song is powerful within itself, it’s the visuals that have fans excited for Kendrick Lamar’s return.
The song opens up with the superbowl halftime show performer dressed in a simple white t-shirt, black bandana around his neck in front of a burgundy backdrop, declaring “As I get a little older, I realize life is perspective.”
The track reflects on gang violence, religion, mental health, and the murder of Nipsey Hussle. Hussle was shot to death in 2019 outside his clothing store in Los Angeles. He is one of many influencers the “DAMN” artist morphs into. Others are O.J. Simpson, Will Smith, Jussie Smollett, Kobe Bryant, and Kanye West.
Lamar succeeds in shining light on those who have impacted black culture in their own way. The video has racked up over 8 million views on Youtube and is trending #1 on social media. Fans are calling the video a masterpiece of art.
