K. Dot’s newest visual premiered online early Tuesday (November 4).

The accompanying music video, directed Alexandre Moors and “The Little Homies,” embodies a similar uplifting message of hope as K. Dot proves a neighborhood as rough and tough as Compton, California is capable of having a good time. (Consequence of Sound)

K. Dot performed his “i” hit moments before Cleveland Cavaliers’ LeBron James faced off against Carmelo Anthony‘s New York Knicks last Thursday (October 30).

All eyes from the sports world are focused on Cleveland, Ohio on Thursday night, as LeBron James is set to make his season debut with the Cleveland Cavaliers. Before tip-off against the New York Knicks, TNT and Samsung held a Coming Home Concert outside of the Quicken Loans Arena. Kendrick Lamar, whose new record “i” serves as the official theme song for the 2014-2015 NBA season and NBA on TNT broadcasts, performed the record live on television in front of thousands of eager Cavs supporters. A few weeks ago, Lamar said he received permission from music pioneer Ronald Isley for a sample on his new “i” record.

“I think music is universal. It’s an expression. No matter how it comes across, as long as it always remains you, that’s how they’re gonna respect it and they’re gonna have a connection with it. I got a chance to meet [Ronald Isley] and even got him on the ad libs for the record,. You can hear him. … I record a bunch of ideas and I really just sit and live with them until I feel like they got a potential of being a ten. Those be the keepers.” (“Big Boy’s Neighborhood”)
