Grammy-winning rapper Kendrick Lamar‘s full “Eyes Above” Flying Lotus collaboration has officially premiered online following a publicized BBC Radio One appearance last night (April 9).

Flying Lotus unleashed the previously unreleased anthem to the masses following a chat with K. Dot.

As part of his typically eye-opening and wide ranging BBC Radio One show from the producer (including playing tracks from fellow Lamar collaborators Dr Dre, George Clinton and Thundercat), Flylo shared a track that didn’t make the final cut of To Pimp A Butterfly. The resulting song ‘Eyes Above’ is classic convoluted beat topped off with Lamar’s unstoppable flow and the somewhat unpredictable boast “How can I dodge you buffoons?” Flying Lotus has actually played the remix before live but had previously explained how he had to leave the track of his own album You’re Dead!. Flying Lotus recently talked about teaming up with Lamar for the song.

“There’s actually another track that he did on this album that I had to take off for political reasons, but it was a really cool thing. He came to the house and laid it down and killed it. He didn’t come with no entourage or nothing. It was real special to me. I appreciate that space when I can sit with the artist and really see how their genius works, and Kendrick is that guy. He’s a visionary thinker. Every time he raps on a song, he raps like I wish I could.” (Pitchfork)

Last year, the duo’s “Never Catch Me” music video premiered online.

The dark visuals start off at a funeral for a young boy and girl, but the sadness soon fades. Their souls rise out of their coffins and start to dance in front of the mourners before playing games in the backyard. With a smile on their faces, they drive off in a hearse as children chase them down the street. The song will appear on Flying Lotus’ album You’re Dead! (due Oct. 7) featuring Snoop Dogg, Thundercat, and Kendrick. (Rap-Up)

Flying Lotus previously discussed how the Kendrick collaboration came together.

“It just came about sort of naturally. He came through the crib and recorded it and it was great. The funny part is, though, that he wanted to keep that shit for his album. When I first sent him the track, he was trying to convince me to give it to him. Like, ‘Nah, man, I need that!'” (Rolling Stone)
