In the clip, K. Dot is shown rapping in music publication XXL Magazine‘s office to notable hip-hop classics.

One month after Kendrick Lamar covered Tupac Shakur‘s “California Love” at the iHeartMusic Awards, he has taken on some of the most iconic songs by other rappers in a round of hip-hop karaoke. Holed up in XXL’s office, Lamar goes at it alone as he figures out the karaoke machine and cues up Eminem’s “My Name Is,” offering up a fair take on the rapper’s nasal delivery and Dr. Dre’s husky guest spot. Next up, he tackles Jay Z’s “Big Pimpin'”, wagging his finger and leaning forward to read the lyrics as they scroll by. And finally, the good kid, m.A.Ad city rapper tries his hand at 50 Cent’s “Candy Shop” and “In Da Club” – until he is politely told he could stop. (Rolling Stone)

Recently, K. Dot revealed his love for the Hollywood scene.

“On the creative side, um, scoring movies,” K. Dot said when asked what he wants to do outside of album-making. “Yeah, I’m real huge on visual concepts and the music behind it and the dramatic feel behind it and piecing things together. And I think that comes from doing music. Now in my brain I would like to challenge myself and take it to another level one day eventually one day.” (KUBE 93)

He also confirmed recent reports about purchasing a low-key California home.

“I popped up and seen that on the Internet too. I’m like, ‘Where they get this stuff?’ It’s real, but it’s not my spot. I really like to buy property whether it’s apartments, whether it’s buildings, whether it’s houses. I like to stay in L.A. I still live in L.A. in a small little apartment condo in L.A. But I like to invest my money in different things rather than buying things for the moment. Something that can last me a lifetime.” (KUBE 93)

Recent reports revealed Lamar spent over $500,000 for a new four-bedroom home.

According to official records, Lamar recently purchased a modest 4-bedroom home in Eastvale, CA for $523,500, a far cry from his hip hop brethren posted up in multimillion-dollar mansions in L.A.’s ritzy Bel Air neighborhood or Atlanta’s Buckhead. The lot where the house is located is listed at roughly 7,800 square feet, so the house is much smaller — and it’s also located a good hour east of Los Angeles, smack in the pleasantly affordable middle of nowhere (relatively speaking).
