Former Destiny's Child singer Kelly Rowland's financial woes have leaked online showing her owing nearly $100,000 to the Internal Revenue Service (IRS).
Details regarding the singer’s debt were publicly unveiled over the weekend.
Grammy-Award winning singer Kelly Rowland, sidekick to Beyonce in the group Destiny’s Child, owes the IRS more than $98,000 in delinquent federal taxes, according to public records. Rowland, 29, rose to fame in the girl group, which broke through with the 1999 hit tune “Bills, Bills, Bills.” After the group broke up, she released a few solo albums and maintains an acting career that included portraying Motown legend (and ex-Detroit Councilwoman/tax delinquent) Martha Reeves in a 2003 episode of the TV show “American Dreams.” The IRS filed a $98,634 lien against Rowland on Nov. 8 with the New York City Register. Recently, Rowland was spotted at a celebration for fellow R&B singer Ne-Yo.
Ne-Yo celebrated his album release with some famous friends at a post-American Music Awards dinner and show presented by VEVO and Compound Entertainment on Sunday night (Nov. 21). Keri Hilson, Kelly Rowland, Diddy, Brandy, Ray J, Christina Milian, Jesse McCartney, and more joined the new father at Avalon in Hollywood for an evening of R&B and special surprises. (Rap-Up)
As of late, she has also been heard recording new music with rapper Nelly.
Nelly and Kelly have a new song called “Gone” and the “Dilemma” partners pick up where their 2002 Grammy-winning hit single left off. “Remember the chick that used to live right up the block from me, I seen her yesterday and she’s still fly, she’s still right, still tight, still fine,” he croons his mellow lines. Rowland is most known for her role as a member of Destiny’s Child and released her last solo album three years ago.
In 2002, Rowland’s stylish R&B solo debut, Simply Deep, was released on Columbia. “Dilemma,” the album’s first single, featured a duet with Southern rapper Nelly. It had a two-month stay at number one during fall 2002. Her second solo album, the oft-delayed and more R&B-oriented Ms. Kelly, didn’t materialize until July 2007. (All Music)
