Details of their break-up have begun circulating online.

Russell Brand has filed for divorce from Katy Perry … TMZ has learned. In the docs, filed in L.A., Brand cites “irreconcilable differences.” The two were married Oct. 23, 2010 in India. They have no kids. The divorce docs say there are “community property assets” — it’s a sign there might not be a prenup, or if there is one it doesn’t cover all of the earnings and other assets they accumulated. The docs do not give a date the couple separated. (TMZ)

Since the news became public, Brand has issued a statement confirming the separation.

In recent weeks however, celebrity media reported that their marriage was in trouble. They spent the Christmas holidays apart, with Brand being photographed in England, and Perry spotted in Hawaii — both without their wedding rings.”Sadly, Katy and I are ending our marriage. I’ll always adore her and I know we’ll remain friends,” Brand said in a statement on Friday, after filing divorce papers in Los Angeles Superior Court. No separation date was given. Perry’s representatives did not return calls for comment on Friday. (Reuters)

Last year, Perry’s ex-boyfriend/rapper Travie McCoy opened up about dropping his Forgetting Katy Perry mixtape.

The music came from a place he’s most familiar with. “Me, personally as an artist, I just write about my life. Unfortunately, that involves going through break-ups. Sometimes it makes for really, really good music and sometimes it makes for sad and depressing sh*t.” While he has become accustomed to the constant prodding about his ex, he doesn’t want the past to define him. “To an extent, I’m comfortable with discussing it, but when it becomes the main focus, I’m like, ‘Aight, let’s just keep going.’ This sh*t is out for public consumption anyway. In the beginning it was our relationship, but after a while it turned into everyone else’s relationship. On those gossip blogs, everyone has their views on our relationship. I’m over it.” (Rap-Up)

McCoy also previously discussed focusing certain records like “Don’t Pretend” on his famous ex-girlfriend.

“It was hinting more to the career aspect–but not to throw stones, but I think it was inspired by that whole situation. At the end of the day, I think anyone who has been thorough some sh*t can relate to [‘Don’t Pretend’]. It could have been about my girlfriends before, but I’ma keep it real with you, it was definitely about Katy Perry. [Laughs.] I definitely felt a certain way about the whole situation. Having a year and a half to reflect on it, you start questioning everything…” (Complex)

Recently, Bad Boy Records’ Red Cafe revealed his interest in collaborating with Perry.

“I listen to Sade. I’m a big Prince fan. Their melodies triggers things that make me feel like maybe I can do something like that,” he revealed. “[If I could collab with any pop artist?] I like Katy Perry. I think we’d make a hot record. [Celebrity crushes?] Zoe Saldana is hot. I like clever, not slick women. I’m very easily turned off.” (Global Grind)

In 2011, celebrity couples Jennifer Lopez and Marc Anthony and Kris Humphries and Kim Kardashian separated.

No further details have been revealed as of now.
