According to reports, the accident took place on Saturday (June 5).

Chris Cooper said he was shaken out of bed at around four o’clock Saturday morning by the loud noise. “Just a tremendous crash. As if a small building were coming down,” said Cooper, who lives across the street from the crash scene. Cooper thought something had happened on Diamond Head Road until he stepped outside. “I looked over here and saw the car impaled in the garage,” he said. The garage door to the home was pushed in and there was a large, gaping hole in the side of the garage wall. Honolulu police said the Porsche Panamera that was found at the scene is registered to rap star Kanye West. They said the car was being driven along Hibiscus Drive when it failed to make a right turn. (KITV News)

Additional details on what went down have also circulated online.

The residence is undergoing construction and was unoccupied at the time. Police had difficulty pulling the car from the home. West has been renting a home in Honolulu, where he is recording his fifth album, but was not on the island at the time of the incident. Sources told KITV that his cousin had permission to drive the car, and witnesses said they saw three men fleeing the scene after the crash. An auto theft report was filed with police. (Rap-Up)

In addition to working on his 808’s & Heartbreak album in Hawaii, the rapper has recently been rumored to be collaborating with artists like Drake and Pusha T on the tropical island.

Fuse TV’s, Toure had a conversation with an individual who received a sneak peek at the rapper’s new project and got wind of some DOPE information. According to Toure, RZA, Q-Tip and Pete Rock have all contributed to Yeezy’s new effort. It’s also been said that Pusha T from the Clipse and Drake have taken trips down to Hawaii (that’s where he’s creating the new album) to assist Ye with the new project. (BET’s Sound Off)

G.O.O.D. Music’s Fonzworth Bently recently confirmed Ye has been spending time in Hawaii working on new music.

“[Kanye] was trying to get me to come out the Hawaii last week,” Fonz said in a February 2010 interview. “That’s where he’s recording. But my schedule wouldn’t permit. I’m going to try my best to get out there before February’s out.” (VIBE)

No further details have been revealed as of now.
