Grammy-winning rapper Kanye West and CyHi The Prynce‘s new “Dat Side” isn’t the long-awaited Yeezy comeback anthem fans are drooling for. New reports have surfaced surrounding the track’s origins.

According to reports, Ye actually put together his bars back in 2016.

The song “Dat Side” dropped Tuesday, and it sure looked like Kanye’s reentry. But sources tell TMZ … he recorded the song in September 2016 — 2 months before he abruptly canceled his Saint Pablo Tour and ended up hospitalized for a mental breakdown. On the surface the verse seems to be a clap back at Jay-Z’s track on “4:44” where Jay skewers Kanye. Yeezy’s lyrics do sound like a good retort — “People claim they praying for you, really they be preying on you” — but it’s simply not the case. (TMZ)

Yesterday, news outlets and social media exploded with joy over the new Ye and CyHi audio gem.

CyHi The Prynce has shared new single “Dat Side,” a collaboration with Kanye West. “Dat Side” is set to feature on CyHi’s forthcoming debut album, No Dope On Sundays. Kanye and CyHi are regular collaborators and G.O.O.D. Music label mates. In 2014, Kanye executive produced CyHi’s Black Hystori Project mixtape. (The FADER)

A few months ago, buzz developed about Kanye potentially releasing a secret album with longtime pal Kid Cudi.

According to a source, the new project is so secret, “they’re going to drop some crazy collaboration out of the blue,” an insider told us. “They’re going to drop some surprise project on everybody. They’re recording it now.” They’re keeping the lid so tight that “nobody knows what it is — or what it sounds like . . . There are no professionals in the room. It’s just Cudi, Kanye and an engineer. They’re recording together in Japan.” (Page Six)
