Although Mr. West seemed to fall back on the request, reports claim he eventually obliged.

Remember when that kid got his “Red October” Air Yeezy 2s signed at a “Yeezus” concert in New York? Well, someone tried to do the same thing when Kanye was out in the streets, and to his surprise, Kanye declined. Not because he was in a hurry, but because the sneakers were fake. Watch the clip to see what went down. UPDATE: Kanye West did in fact sign the fake “Red October” Air Yeezy 2s. Here is a photo that shows him from another angle, signing the sneakers. (Complex)

Over the winter, a Nike rep claimed consumer demand forced the company to make the Red October sneakers available in February.

A representative for Nike said in an email “Nike was committed to releasing the Red color way. And it was clear the consumer was asking for it. Nike communicated directly to nearly 2.6 million Twitter followers when we made it available for purchase….This is the final shoe in the Yeezy collection.” A representative for Kanye West did not return a request for comment. The exclusive kicks managed to reach out-of-stock status in just over ten minutes of their release.

Without warning, Nike tweeted a purchase link to their online store at 1 p.m. EST. Only 11 minutes later, the $245 shoe was sold out, leaving many fans upset that they couldn’t get their hands on a pair. It’s unknown if Nike plans to release more online or at retail stores. Nike launched the original Air Yeezy in 2009 and followed it up with two colorways of the Air Yeezy II in 2012. Due to the limited quantity, the shoe fetched as much as $90,000 on eBay. (Rap-Up)

Back in December, mega retailer Foot Locker announced the pricey, limited edition sneakers’ setback.

Only a few days ago, Footlocker shared details of its imminent December 27 online release of its red Nike Air Yeezy II. Other release information was heard globally as well, including JUICE Hong Kong’s drop. But in what has become indicative of the whole Red Nike Air Yeezy II story, more changes have surfaced with no concrete details. Footlocker has since announced the cancellation of its December 27 drop, and JUICE as well as seen its release cancelled. For China, Nike is set to release it online in the region via a Nike China online-only release (which may or may not go through). One thing that comes to mind, can Nike continue to label the shoe the “Yeezy” or is there more to it? (HYPEBEAST)
