Grammy-winning rapper Kanye West looks like he’s taking steps back to normalcy after reuniting with G.O.O.D. Music’s John Legend. The hip-hop star has hit up social media to share posts of their sudden reunion.
Early Saturday, Ye treated his 27.9 million Twitter followers to footage of Legend playing music on a piano.

Earlier in the week, Legend publicly addressed his issues with Ye’s seemingly blind support of President Donald Trump.
“That’s fine for him to think whatever he thinks but every time he makes an utterance and publishes it, it has impact. Politicians, when they do things it has impact and when you align yourself with them, it doesn’t mean you’re endorsing everything they stand for but you’re endorsing their agenda, essentially and if Trump’s agenda is bringing so much pain to so many people, then I don’t think we should be endorsing it. [Maybe he’s removed from the average person?] That’s what I said yesterday in my tweets. Sometimes we have the luxury of being insulated from that.” (Lip Service)
This week, Kanye raised eyebrows by exposing John’s personal text messages on Twitter.

I tweeted the John text to show that there are people around me that disagree with me and voice their opinion. I respect everyone's opinion but I stand my ground.

I really appreciate this dialogue with John Legend because I'm actually very empathetic. Im still the kid from the telethon. I feel when people think of MAGA they don't think of empathy.

This is year one. We can't ad empathy to MAGA by hating. We can only ad empathy with love and time and truly hearing all sides

my friend said he texted all his friends this morning and said I love you
— ye (@kanyewest) April 26, 2018
the concept of loving people has a stigma
— ye (@kanyewest) April 26, 2018
try telling people you love them it actually feels weird at first. We're really good at hating each other. We have to get good at loving each other.

A few days ago, John Legend appeared to low-key take shots at Ye in light of his pro-Trump stance.
I imagine there's some comfort in imagining a future without racism and projecting that onto the present. Thinking if we just deny the truth, it doesn't exist. If history is erased, we don't have to deal with its consequences. However…
— John Legend (@johnlegend) April 25, 2018
Far too many people don't have the luxury of closing their eyes and ears. They feel it in their lives and can't act like what they see and know doesn't exist.

They know their family was destroyed by deportation or incarceration. They know their loved one was denied safe harbor because of their religion. They know their son or daughter was shot because their skin color evoked fear

They see the statistics about black applications for real estate or loans or employment being turned away because their name was Jamal and not James

I love that great, brilliant artists have the power to imagine a better future. But artists can't be blind to the truth.

The defining trait of Trump's campaign and political profile was his embrace of white supremacy. He made it clear every time he spoke. Some serious cognitive dissonance to ignore that for the other x% you might find appealing. I guess I agree with >1% of anyone's thoughts though

Anyway, y'all need to come to Montgomery and see this memorial
