Grammy-winning rapper Kanye West made sure to let the world know he is not a fan of short speeches for his Artist of the Year Webby Awards last night (May 16).
Yeezy playfully used a short acceptance speech to, cleverly, show off his stance.
It what might come as a surprise to some, Kanye West loves to pontificate. So in winning Artist of the Year at the 20th annual Webby Awards on Monday night, West was left with a dilemma. The awards show limits its winners to just five words in their acceptance speeches, meaning the typically verbose West had to speak his mind with little flourish or exposition. The result? “I can’t stand short speeches,” West said in accepting the award and following the five-word rule. (EW)
Recently, Chicago’s Chance The Rapper proclaimed Ye’s greatness.
“There’s not really a responsibility to tell people of your accomplishments, but I think in Kanye’s situation…it’s Kanye West,” Chance explains. “If I was the greatest artist of this generation, and the few past generations, and a few generations going forward, I’d probably say it all the time, especially if I was black and people didn’t really like me.
