According to Timberlake, he did not take too much offense to Ye’s words but wanted to have a face-to-face with him.

“We actually spoke for like an hour at the awards,” Justin revealed in an interview. “[We addressed the ‘Suit & Tie’ line] immediately. It doesn’t matter. [What made me respond?] Come on, man. … It was one of those things where I love it, in a way, because at the end of the day, it’s just music. I love the record, I love ‘Suit & Tie.’ It reminds me of the music I grew up listening to. And so, I don’t know, I respect his opinion because I think he’s a genius but I don’t share that opinion. It’s just not that big a deal. And to do it at ‘SNL’ too, it’s not that big a deal. I didn’t know if he didn’t like the song or if he didn’t like the collaboration with me and Jay because I was told a couple of different things.” (“Sway In The Morning”)

Justin also admitted he wished Kanye could have been involved in the making of “Suit & Tie.”

“I told him, ‘I f*ck with you in a way that you probably don’t even understand. I get what you do.’ We’ve never worked together. So I don’t know if he fully understands what I can do and that’s fine. As a matter of fact, Jay said the same thing and that’s okay. What I do agree with is I would have loved to have him as a part of the process. It’s just, how collaborations come up with me is just, I don’t plan them out, in a way.” (“Sway In The Morning”)

Back in March, Justin was asked about changing up the song’s lyrics to address Kanye’s comments during a “Saturday Night Live” performance.

Timberlake addressed the lyric swap on Monday’s “Late Night” with Jimmy Fallon. In the video shown above, Fallon asks Timberlake, “For ‘Saturday Night Live,’ it felt like to me you changed one of the lyrics in ‘Suit & Tie.'” “Did it seem that way?” Timberlake asked, feigning disbelief. “I don’t remember that… Did I change a line? It is live. You know, really, everyone, keep calm.” To which Fallon responded, “Keep calm, and Kanye on.” Fallon’s mention of Kanye prompted Timberlake to address the rapper, telling the audience, “Let me just, for the record… I absolutely love Kanye. So there’s that. We love Kanye, right?” (Huffington Post)

In a corporate-based rant last winter, Yeezy used Justin and Jay’s “Suit & Tie” to get a point across.

“Creativity fuels everything. I hate business people. People get on the phone with me and talk to me, you know, like, ‘What kind of business can it do, though? What type of business are you doing? What’s the numbers? How many did you sell? What’s the radio spins? How much shampoo do you sell with your face on it and sh*t?’ Remind, remind me again why we in this sh*t. Remind me again why we in this sh*t. Make it even more mellow, maybe even just the chorus — remind me again why the Grammys can suck my d*ck, remind me again who’s the original super fly/And I got love for Hov but I ain’t f*ckin’ with that ‘Suit & Tie’/Remind me again, remind me again why we in this sh*t/Remind me again, remind me again why we in this sh*t…” (YouTube)
