Admitting that the duo’s most experimental record was the much-criticized “H.A.M.”, Sean said expect Jay and Yeezy to have more suprises in store for this project.

“Man, I was in the studio with Jay and Ye about a week ago,” Sean told SOHH. “I heard some songs. It’s gonna be good man, it’s gonna be history. [Talib Kweli heard] ‘Black Excellence.’ To be honest, I think the most unexpected part is kind of out the way with ‘H.A.M.’ That was probably the most unexpected. That was probably the last kind of track I was expecting to hear from Jay and Ye but they definitely have some tricks up their sleeves. And they have some types of songs that you would think they might have. They really did a good job at covering all aspects, from the songs I’ve heard.” (SOHH)

Earlier this month, Talib Kweli hinted at one of the featured tracks he got to hear.

“I heard one record, man, I don’t even know what it’s called,” Kweli added. “It’s about black history. And it’s like, Kanye and Jay are really on some black history sh*t. The beat is tough. You know, if you’re spending time hating on Kanye and Jay-Z — you’re missing out — and you could be smacking yourself in the future, like, ‘What was I thinking?'” (The Source)

Around mid-February, it was reported Ye and Jay took to a New York City hotel to record music for the album.

Kanye West and Jay-Z have been recording together in high styleat the Mercer Hotel this week. The artists have been working together on an album, “Watch the Throne,” to be released in the summer. A spy reports, “They took over at least one whole floor and moved in their equipment, which may have annoyed some of the guests.” Of working with West, Jay-Z recently said, “This is another level of recording . . . really, he’s like a brother to me — I’ve seen him from the beginning to where he is now . . . how he’s growing as a producer and as an artist, for me, on another level, it’s enjoyable.” Reps for the artists and for the hotel didn’t get back to us. In late January, Kanye West told fans the album would be out in the spring.

“I could never do stand up cause I tell jokes better when I’m sitting,” West tweeted Sunday (January 23).

“I’ll be back this SUMMER!!!!!!!!!!! IN THE STUDIO NOW WITH THE BEARS GAME ON … WATCH THE THRONE COMING IN 2 MONTHS!!!!!!!!!! MY NEW ALBUM COMING THIS SUMMER … ALL THE LIGHTS VIDEO IN 1 WEEK!!!!!! THIS IS HIGH END RAP MUSIC I just threw some bassoon on this muthaf*cka” (Kanye West’s Twitter)
