Kanye West Isn’t For The Cyberbullying: “We Have To Be Strong”

Written By Cyrus Langhorne

Rap star Kanye West has come forward to speak out on his stance toward social media and why he doesn’t let cyberbullying bring him down.

In Kanye’s perspective, he believes there’s all kinds of reasons why people may lash out on celebrities over social apps.

“You love who you love and live your life. A lot of things come with – cyberbullying and all that stuff, people using celebrities to let hatred out. They might have an issue with their father and it comes off in Instagram comment number eight. We have to be strong. We’re so blessed, so fortunate to just appreciate the opportunities we have. There’s codes to the good life. And some of it comes in how much space your home has, what type of clothes you have, what type of car you have. What I’ve learned is seeing on the other side of the curtain. Being a 14-year-old who couldn’t afford Taco Bell to now pulling up to Taco Bell in a Maybach.” (Billboard)

Earlier this spring, Kanye’s ex-girlfriend Amber Rose addressed social media targeting singer Kehlani.

“I just thought it was extremely unfortunate. As human beings, we love and make mistakes. We hurt and we feel pain. Regardless, if you’re a man or a woman, I feel like it’s very easy to get misunderstood on social media. I think that’s exactly what happened… And even if she wasn’t misunderstood, people need to just mind their f*cking business and let people be with who they want to be with.” (Rap-Up)

Hip-hop personality Karen Civil recently talked about the impact of cyberbullying.

“Yeah. I’ve gotten to a point where this isn’t the first time it has happened to me. It’s all about how you use your social platform. Right now, I’m just using mine to empower people, get my entertainment and my news. Other people use their platform for different things. It’s unfortunate that cyberbullying is something that happens to 13-year-old kids in junior high and adults in the workplace. It’s something that we have to deal with as Americans. I am now a testament to it, and it’s happening to me. It’s definitely an unfortunate situation.” (Essence)
