Grammy-winning rapper Kanye West didn’t accidentally delete his social media pages. The hip-hop star reportedly ditched his Instagram and Twitter pages following his growing, publicized e-rants.

According to reports, Ye realized the negative impact his online rants had.

“Kanye got to the point where he realized his rants were becoming unhealthy. This is why he deleted his account,” a source tells PEOPLE after the rapper, 41, cleared both his Twitter and Instagram accounts on Friday. “When he gets into these Twitter rants, it’s very difficult for him to stop. It’s like an obsession and it actually affects his life. He knows it’s not healthy, so he wants to take things down a notch,” the source says. (People)

Last week, Chicago native Lil Bibby took a low-key swipe at West.

A few days ago, Kanye pulled the plug on his social media pages.

Kanye West’s Twitter and Instagram accounts no longer exist. The rapper’s social media presence has apparently vanished as of Saturday. It isn’t the first time West has deleted his social media accounts without warning. He stayed off of Twitter for nearly a year, making his return this past April, and recently went back to Instagram as well. (The Hollywood Reporter)

Back in February, Kanye pulled the plug on his Instagram page and terminated his account.

Mercurial mad genius Kanye West has already deleted his Instagram account again after an all-too-brief return to praise his wife Kim Kardashian (and several other high-profile celebrity couples) on Valentine’s Day. Kanye originally deleted his accounts around eight months ago while recovering from an onstage meltdown during his Saint Pablo tour. The resulting public backlash and physical exhaustion of the tour caused him to retreat from public life while earning him a lawsuit and a very angry reference on Jay-Z’s Grammy-nominated album, 4:44.
