Grammy-winning rapper Kanye West had some dicey words for the media during opening night of his Revel Casino weekend concert series as he took direct shots at the press in Atlantic City.
Speaking to a crowd of screaming fans with his “Clique” instrumental playing in the background, Yeezy took a few minutes to lash out at the negative press he has received in recent years.
“It won’t be long before we’re designing sh*t, stores, movies, clothes, operas. It won’t be long now. It won’t be long now. You know the press and the media will try to come up with all of the dumbest sh*t in the world to try to distract y’all from what you’re seeing and experiencing right now but it won’t be long. It won’t be long now. And they’ll try to tell you ‘Kanye’s so crazy, so deranged. I ain’t crazy, I’m just not satisfied! I just ain’t satisfied with the sh*t they be feeding y’all on TV. The sh*t they be feeding you in the movies, the sh*t they be giving y’all in the stores. I just want y’all to have more.” (Normal Mag)
He also cited critics which told him he would never make it as an emcee considering his non-gangster image in the early 2000’s.
“When I was a producer, they told me not to rap,” Ye added. “They said, ‘You don’t look gangsta enough, where’s your throwback? Where’s your fitted hat? How the f*ck is you trying to rap? Look at your pants, man, how skinny is that!? What the f*ck makes you think that you could rap?’ Fresh Prince was the first n*gga to win a Grammy, me, John Legend and Common became the Grammy family. Outside of his words, Ye stole the show Friday (December 28) night with his on-stage apparel.
‘Ye probably has some more explaining to do after his performance this weekend in Atlantic City. Yeezy took the stage at the Revel casino (where Beyoncé held her first post-baby show) and managed to upstage his Scottish inspired look with a wintery outfit that hid his face entirely. In an ensemble that made him look a bit like the abominable snowman, Kanye First showed off a white feathery hood that completely masked his face, save for some eye slits. Then Kanye showed the crowd a second hood, which was a full face mask made out of crystals — think the greenman from It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia but fancy. (Gawker)

The “Cold” artist gave concertgoers a chilling performance dressed in all-white, including outrageous headpieces like this crystal-encrusted Maison Martin Margiela mask. Always one to take it to the NEXT level, Mr. West changed outfits during the show and returned wearing a feathered mask that was quite fitting for his winter wonderland set. Top that, Lady Gaga!
