Grammy-winning rapper Kanye West recently updated fans on the status of his SWISH album and revealed the possibility of it having a new title.
Asked about premiering his song “Fade” at the Yeezy Season 2 show last week, Ye dished on the highly-anticipated album.
“We had a couple options and I just thought it sounded good against the people. For the 40 theaters across the globe, for the kids that all went to see it in theaters, I thought they’d be happy to hear some new music. I’ve been doing that [making a new album] too. That’s like a sonic landscape, a two-year painting. That song I played has been a year and a half in the making and it may be still a year from being complete. But it was to let people get a glimpse at the painting,” Kanye explained. “It’s ‘currently’ called Swish. I’m forgetting even what the last name of it was now.” (Vanity Fair)
Last month, producer Mike Dean acknowledged Kanye would solely determine when his upcoming SWISH album was ready for the masses.
“Nothing, really, it’s in progress,” Dean revealed when asked what he knew about Ye’s new album. “[Will it come out in 2015?] I have no idea. It just depends. Whenever Kanye says it’s done, it’s done.” (Montreality)
Recently, rapper Q-Tip talked about being attached to Kanye’s upcoming SWISH album with veteran producer Rick Rubin.
“Yeah, Rick and I were gonna do the record, and Kanye went through different phases musically, so we’ve yet to reconnect on his project. We’ve met a few times and he’s kept me up to speed here and there on what’s happening. He’s done the same with my record. We’ve been talking about some ideas for my record as well. We’re still in step. It’s not like [Kanye] scrapped any of it, that’s a rumor.” (Billboard)
Although slim with details, G.O.O.D. Music’s Travi$ Scott recently dished on the mysterious upcoming LP.
“Don’t think that you hearing ‘All Day’ and that’s the vibe of the album. Nah, man. This is some other next level thing he got going. He’s on his producing sh*t. He’s on his God-level rapping sh*t. It’s that Kanye everybody wants. It’s some ultimate sh*t.” (Power 106 FM)
