Grammy-winning rapper Kanye West has come forward to speak out on a multitude of various topics ranging from his truce with rapper Wiz Khalifa to being referenced by Young Money’s Drake on his new “Summer Sixteen” single.
According to Yeezy, a G.O.O.D. Music affiliate connected him with Wiz to end their social media feud.
“My brother Malik Yusef got us on the phone, he’s very close with Wiz, he’s also very close to me. We chopped it up, squashed it. For people who felt a way about the kids comment, I ain’t mean it in a harmful way. I just say my wife’s initials and reacted because that’s ‘my’ family. See, people be thinking because my wife’s on TV or she’s been in an ‘SNL’ skit – that it’s open season – no. That’s the mother of my kid and I’m Ye – I just want to show I’m a man at the end of the day. … It was great to have closure, it was great to build. West also acknowledged Drake referencing his pool being bigger than his on the new “Summer Sixteen” single.
“I have three pools,” Kanye said when asked about Drake’s reference on “Summer Sixteen.” “That’s it. Yes [I have a pool for whoever wants to come over.] I have three pools – I haven’t thought about that, but I wonder if there is a Pac verse or something that we could find. Recently, producer Swizz Beatz dished on West’s upcoming solo album, Waves.
“I had the pleasure of working on a few tracks for the album. It’s one of the best albums I heard him produce in a while. It’s a sound that I think is very enjoyable. The sonics and the things that people are gonna hear — I think they should connect to it, like close their eyes [away] from all of the B.S. and think about the music when you listen to the album ‘cause it’s a lotta noise outta there. When you’re that popular, there’s gonna be a lot of noise but sometimes, we gotta put the headphones out, get away from that noise and really listen to the craft and I think that he has a great piece of work on his hands.” (Billboard)
Kanye said he views his new album as being comparable to projects released from hip-hop moguls like Jay Z, Q-Tip and Puff Daddy on Twitter Tuesday (February 2).
