Ye Not Here For NFTs

Kanye West is known for pushing boundaries in fashion, music, and politics. However, don't step to him about an NFT. Apparently, the groundbreaking artist has been getting tons of inquiries about selling his art as NFTs and Mr. West is not having it.

Kanye took to Instagram to address everyone asking him to enter into the metaverse/ “STOP ASKING ME TO DO NFT’s I’M NOT FINNA CO-SIGN … FOR NOW I’M NOT ON THAT WAVE I MAKE MUSIC AND PRODUCTS IN THE REAL WORLD”.

Kanye doesn’t have full confidence in NFTs (non-fungible tokens), the hot new digital crypto product that has rappers dropping hundreds of thousands of dollars out of FOMO.  Even Meek Mill, who cried out for crypto help just months ago has announced that his new mixtape would be released independently on the blockchain.

His new album, DONDA 2, will be released on February 22nd — no cap and definitely no crypto, says Ye.

Kanye took to Instagram to make the album announcement, a rare post these days from his own account.  The caption read, “DONDA 2 Coming 2/22/22 Executive Produced by Future.” The cover art featured a burning church and the numbers of the drop date 2/2/22 with a gray cloudy background.

Also not appearing on the blockchain is Kanye’s Netflix documentary, Jeen-yuhs.  The film recently premiered at the Sundance Film Festival and is over four hours of his life story, captured by longtime friends and biographers, Coodie & Chike.

The movie jumps in with Kanye playing beats for Mos Def and Talib Kweli—Black Star—in his car; bursting into random people’s offices at Roc-A-Fella to play a demo of “All Falls Down”; getting rejected repeatedly by labels, including Roc-A-Fella that strung him along for years as a producer only; using $33,000 of his own money to bankroll the breakthrough hit “Through the Wire” music video; and watching Pharrell flee the studio with glee after hearing it for the first time – declaring Kanye the “next big thing.
