Kanye Big Ups Snoop

Kanye West is showing love to Snoop Dogg after rapper Curren$y took to Twitter to send congratulations to Tha Doggfather on his latest power move, hailing it as a prime example of Ye’s  “Black Future Month” movement with a tweet:  “Snoop acquiring Deathrow is Black Future Month As F*ck.”

Kanye saw the tweet and shared it on his Instagram page. Snoop Dogg reciprocated the love by reposting Kanye West‘s Curren$y screenshot on his own Instagram page along with fist bump and folded hands emojis.

Snoop Dogg, in a statement, said: “I am thrilled and appreciative of the opportunity to acquire the iconic and culturally significant Death Row Records brand, which has immense untapped future value. It feels good to have ownership of the label I was part of at the beginning of my career and as one of the founding members.”

Snoop acquired the Death Row Records brand from MNRK Music Group, a private equity fund managed by leading global investment firm Blackstone (“Blackstone”), the world’s largest alternative asset manager. Terms of the transaction were not released.

Snoop Is Performing At The Super Bowl

Meanwhile, Snoop Dogg is set to headline the upcoming Super Bowl Halftime Show along with other hip-hop stars.  The Super Bowl announced that Dr.Dre, Mary J Blige, Snoop Dogg, Eminem, and Kendrick Lamar will perform at halftime at the Super Bowl sponsored by Pepsi. The news was a surprise to hip-hop fans after a few years of major stars ditching the Super Bowl over social justice protests.

50 Cent Makes Show Based On Snoop

TV exec and rapper 50 Cent is getting in on the ascendance of Snoop and is working on a series based on an old murder trial involving the rapper when he was newly signed to Death Row.  In 1993, while he was recording his breakout album Doggystyle, Snoop Dogg’s bodyguard was shot and killed by a rival gang member.
