[With the growing popularity of hip-hop stars like Drake and Kendrick Lamar releasing overnight projects, Interscope Records’ K. Camp talks to SOHH about the trend and the likelihood his upcoming “Only Way Is Up” could come out without any notice.]

The surprise albums looks like it’s something that folks are doing nowadays. As long as the music is good, I don’t have no problem with it.

I want to build up the momentum [for my album “Only Way Is Up”] but you never know, I might drop it tomorrow.

Nah, I’m just bullsh*tting about dropping it tomorrow. “Only Way It Up” is about 90 percent done. We just gotta get into the lab and put the finishing touches on it.

I just want to get everything finalized as far as verses and all of that and then that’s going to be ready to go.

I’m not pressured at all. I’m just ready for my fans and the world to hear some new music.

As far as this being my first debut album, I want to get this out and let the world hear K. Camp.

  1. Kendrick didn’t drop a surprise album out of nowhere. We knew it was coming. We just got it a week early. Now Beyonce, Drake, Earl Sweatshirt, and Tyler the Creator did in fact drop surprise projects
