New York rapper Joey Bada$$ has stepped forward to go at fellow Brooklyn hip-hop artist Troy Ave on social media this weekend.

Joey penned a lengthy Instagram post Saturday (March 5) to defend his decision not to drop a diss record on Ave.

Troy Ave allegedly responded to Joey’s disses with his own Instagram post.

Recently, Slaughterhouse’s Royce Da 5’9 spoke on the dispute and scolded Troy for referencing late Joey affiliate Capital STEEZ‘s suicide on his “Bada**” diss song.

“Of course there’s a line, there’s a line with anything in life and he most certainly, absolutely crossed the line. You know, it’s just hip-hop at the end of the day. What did these guys do to each other to make you think it’s OK for you to be able to say that. Troy Ave, if you’re listening, you owe Capital STEEZ’s family an apology. It’s just that simple. You gotta be a man and you gotta admit when you’re wrong about something. … Suicide is a very, very serious thing. It’s not a sign of weakness. It’s not because of drugs. It could be because of anything. Mental disorder and things of that nature are very serious, serious issues. I don’t think there’s nothing cool about the way Troy Ave handled that situation. The kid can rap, why can’t he just rap? Why can’t he just rap and say what he has to say about Joey Bada$$? I don’t understand why that kind of line has to get crossed.” (Complex)

A few days ago, New York rapper Smoke DZA weighed-in on the Troy/Joey dispute.

“We laughed,” Smoke said when asked for his thoughts on Troy Ave’s “Bada**” song. “I think it’s good for the sport, personally. You know, a lot of people might take offense to the [Capital STEEZ] line but you know, it’s been worse said in hip-hop. So, I mean, we’re at the age and era where everybody Kum Ba Ya. F*ck that Kum Ba Ya sh*t. If it gotta be like that, then it gotta be like that. Everybody feel like they, n*ggas is nice. Joey knows. Joey is seasoned and groomed and he’s got a lot of big homies that give him great advice. Very interesting. So he’s very good. I won’t disclose what my advice to him is. But what I will say is, for the sake of the sport, you got to play the sport. So we’ll see.” (“Sway In The Morning”)
