[With Royce Da 5’9 and KXNG Crooked having put out joint albums over the past year, Slaughterhouse’s Joell Ortiz talks to SOHH about each member balancing their solo and group duties.]
It feels good. We came into this thing as solo artists. The conglomerates called us a super group because of everybody’s respect for their own.
The chance to come together and do Slaughterhouse, get into our solo stuff and then come back and do Slaughterhouse is a blessing to me. It just shows that these four individuals you’re talking about, me, Royce Da 5’9, Crooked I, Joe [Budden], we’re passionate hip-hop heads.
We want to stay at it. Whether it’s as a conglomerate or as solo artists but we support each other’s stuff. We understand the need to get that off and we’re right back at it as family.
It’s such a blessing to be a solo artist and a group member. It’s the best.
