Despite contractual negotiations taking place for Joell Ortiz, the Brooklyn rapper's manager says his solo deal isn't impeding Slaughterhouse's move to Shady Records.

According to Ortiz’s manager, Mike Heron, there are no hold-ups on the rapper’s end.

“There’s a lot of rumors going around about how we’re jammed up, or we’re jamming up the Slaughterhouse deal,” Heron said in an interview. “I think [this story] helps clear that up, as well. Joell is 100% free to sign with Slaughterhouse at Shady. We are 100% free to do whatever we want as far as Slaughterhouse is concerned.” (XXL Mag)

Recently, Slaughterhouse member Crooked I updated fans on the status of their move to Shady.

“I’mma tell you like this,” said Crooked when asked whether the deal had been officially completed. “I don’t know about the rest of the group, but I’m on Shady!” he said, before breaking out laughing. “I’m just playin’. This is a note to any up-and-coming artist who’s out there…any aspiring rapper or producer: when you sign a contract with a label, make sure that you have certain freedoms. Try to negotiate…We got four dudes, we got separate contracts with different labels, and some labels kinda blocking. They kinda blocking. But we’re getting over those obstacles now, and we’re negotiating…It’s worse than LeBron [James] going to The Heat. It’s crazy how long it’s taking, but it’s going to happen. Absolutely it’s gonna happen, and absolutely we will be in the studio with Eminem, recording probably the greatest music of our lifetime.” (Hip Hop DX)

Last month, Shady Records’ Bizarre spoke with SOHH about possibly gaining Slaughterhouse as labelmates.

“It’s all good man,” Biz told SOHH about Slaughterhouse joining the roster. “Royce [Da 5’9] is family man and we’ve been down for a while. Actually, we just did a tour with him and Joe Budden out in Canada last year before Slaughterhouse was even moving like that. It’s all good. We know them cats and it’d be a good addition to the camp man. Everybody over at Shady is lyrical, so, what else could you expect. We got the best over here.” (SOHH)

Em’s manager, Paul Rosenberg, recently revealed the rapper’s focus to rebuild Shady Records.

“I think he’s really focused on the creative side. He’s never been someone who’s set out to have a bunch of different companies out there, sort of playing the system. He’s just not that kind of guy.” The one project Eminem and manager Paul Rosenberg are focused on is the rebuilding of their label, Shady Records. “What we mean by that is finding great new artists,” Rosenberg says. “That’s one of the things he is passionate about.” Eminem has cited underground all-star group Slaughterhouse as his first planned signing, and he says more artists are on the table but not ready to be announced.
