Incarcerated music executive James “Jimmy Henchman” Rosemond has come forward to speak out on rap newcomer Bobby Shmurda being arrested on a gun charge this week.

Henchman issued a statement to show support for the Brooklyn hip-hop artist.

“With everything happening with Bobby Shmurda there’s a need for a rap expert on deck, because the culture is under attack,” Henchman said while speaking with “If they can use 50’s lyrics against me as an executive to prove murder then we all in trouble.” (AHH)

A flurry of entertainers relied on social media to support Bobby amid his publicized arrest.

New York rapper N.O.R.E. also rallied behind Bobby and acknowledged the $2 million bail.


A press conference and arraignment took place Thursday (December 18).

The press conference for Bobby Shmurda and GS9′s indictment happened at 3:30 p.m., held by Police Commissioner Bill Bratton and Special Narcotics Prosecutor Bridget G. Brennan. Shmurda pled not guilty to currently-unspecified weapons and drug charges. Darla Miles of Eyewitness News on Channel 7 WABC-TV states that the bail is set at $2 million and that Shmurda’s label Epic Records will post the bail. (XXL Mag)

Footage from the arrest landed across the Internet Wednesday (December 17) evening.

Wondering Sound got a quote from the “director of public information in the office of the city’s special narcotics prosecutor” on the incident. Although she didn’t get into the specifics of the charges, she said “These arrests were the result of a long-term investigation. My office has a sealed indictment against a number of individuals. The investigation did involve a number of violent incidents as well as narcotics trafficking.” Secondly, video of Rowdy Rebel being led away in handcuffs outside of the studio has surfaced. (HNHH)
