Music mogul Jay Z is putting some serious pressure onto the neck of streaming service Spotify by reportedly removing his Reasonable Doubt album from its catalog.

According to reports, Jigga is most likely the driving force behind his 1996 debut disappearing from Spotify this month.

Reasonable Doubt, Jay Z’s all-time classic debut album, has been removed from Spotify. Jay’s camp hasn’t provided official word as to why the record was removed, but given that it disappeared from Spotify just a week after Jay and his famous friends relaunched Tidal, it seems like he might be trying to force his fans to subscribe to his new pet project. Roc Nation’s Rihanna released her new “American Oxygen” song via Young Hov’s new TIDAL service this past weekend.

Less than 24 hours after debuting her new song “American Oxygen” at the March Madness Music Fest in Indianapolis, Rihanna has premiered the track exclusively on Jay Z’s new music streaming service Tidal. (Billboard)

Jay’s superstar wife Beyoncé premiered a new song on TIDAL a few days ago.

In honor of their seventh wedding anniversary, Beyoncé celebrates her love for Jay Z on a new song called “Die With You,” which debuted Saturday on Jay Z’s new streaming service TIDAL. Wearing a Michael Jackson Thriller T-shirt and braids under a backwards cap, she performs the stripped-down song while playing the piano. The tender tribute includes the touching lyrics: “I don’t have a reason to be if I can’t be with you” and “I live so I can die with you.” (Rap-Up)

Last week, Jay Z revealed he had one-on-one conversations with each TIDAL business partner.

“I talked to everyone one on one about music and about what they would like to see in a service, and how would they like this to go. I wanted to know if they were willing to take a chance, since everyone’s names are attached and their reputations, too. And I just believe as long as we’re on the side of right, and we’re in this for the right reasons, it will work. It’s just a big opportunity for everyone — not a thing that belongs to any one person. That’s not fair, that’s not a democratic process, and that isn’t the idea behind it.” (Billboard)

  1. Watch for the music to start to disappear from other streaming services by artist who are down with the Tidal wave ……..#OhYouDidntSeeThisComing

    • Yeah Jay Z can do that but other artist don’t have that kind of power over their record labels.

    • record labels have their lawyers busy im sure. new artists beware of those new contracts lol!!!

if Taylor can do it, im sure those other artists that are part of it can as well. I would like to see Kanye do it. However I dont think Jay would let any Roc Nation artists do it 100% cause their fans may not be all flocking towards Tidal. it was easy for him not having an active contract i assume and owning all his stuff?

  2. there is still plenty of jay z on spotify though. I love the service personally. If tidal drops that price a bit then maybe I’ll look into it.

  3. I actually just got tidal and its 2 different prices $12.99 and $25.99. I got the $12.99 one, same as I was paying with spotify just have more exclusive and interviews

    • WOAH…i thought it was $9.99 and $19.99, what gives? but its tempting ive been hearing about the exclusive content.

  4. I thought dame and biggs burke had the rights to reasonable doubt?,,,that was one of the beef points wit dame and jay at the end of the R.O.C

  5. He basically going to force people to subscribe to tidal if he and other big name artist take they’re music of other streaming services i got rhapsody for 9.99 im good for now
