Big Facts

In a new Apple Music Beats 1 interview, Aiko goes over a bunch of topics centered on her LP. In addition to calling Top Dawg Entertainment’s Ab-Soul one of her favorite rappers, she also dished on securing rap pioneer Nas for the LP.

“All of the songs were recorded already and they were full songs. No one was like, ‘You need features.’ I wanted it to just be this full body of work. Because there was a point in time when I felt like, ‘I don’t need features – it’ll be tight with just me.’ But then it’s like the element of collaborating with people and coming together, is just like, we need more of that. … So anyway I did the song. It was a full, complete song and I was just like, ‘This beat – it reminds me of Nas.’ He came and I talked to him about the song and what I meant about certain things, and he went in and killed it.’ I was like, ‘I can’t believe Nas is right there.'” (Apple Music Beats 1)
